Title: Assistant Controller

Compensation: $125,000–$140,000 base *Salary is determined based on various factors including experience, education, and certifications.

Summary
This Assistant Controller will support the Controller as a true business partner, helping oversee plant-level financials, internal controls, and operational reporting. This role touches everything from month-end close, forecasting, and cost accounting to capital planning and SOX compliance. Ideal for someone who loves being hands-on, digging into data, partnering with operations, and driving improvements within a manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
- Support financial reporting, plant metrics, and key operational data across the site.
- Review and strengthen internal controls, policies, and compliance processes (including SOX).
- Assist with month-end close: journal entries, account reconciliations, invoicing, and variance analysis.
- Partner with operations leadership to identify levers for improvement in quality, productivity, delivery, inventory, cycle time, and profitability.
- Participate in monthly forecasting and annual planning.
- Analyze financial and operational data to guide decision-making and track performance against plan.
- Support capital appropriation requests and post-project reviews.
- Deploy corporate and business unit initiatives across the plant.
- Act as a data-driven problem-solver, forecasting accurately and adjusting as needed.
- Spend time on the shop floor to understand operational impacts behind the numbers.
- Provide clear storytelling with financial data to help leaders make informed decisions.
- Coach and mentor others within the finance team as needed.
- Travel may be required.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business (Accounting/Finance preferred)
- 5+ years of financial experience
- Manufacturing finance experience
- MBA a plus
- Strong cost accounting background
- Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills
- Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
- Ability to query and analyze data
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving ability
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to partner across the plant
- Self-starter who can manage multiple priorities
