Summary

Our client, a leading precision CNC machine shop supporting industries such as aerospace, defense, energy, and medical, is seeking an experienced Quality Control Inspector / CMM Inspector to join their quality assurance team. This organization operates in a fast-paced precision machining environment where quality, craftsmanship, and accountability are critical to success. This role requires a highly skilled inspector with hands-on experience operating Zeiss CMM machines and programming using Calypso software. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in CNC machining environments, including prior experience as a machinist, and extensive knowledge of first article inspections and shop floor measurement practices. This is not an entry-level or training role. The team is seeking someone who can step in immediately, operate independently, and contribute to maintaining strict quality standards within a precision aerospace manufacturing environment.


**This is not a production role. We are seeking true job shop professionals who can hold tight tolerances, manage complex setups, and work independently.


Responsibilities

  • Operate and program Zeiss CMM machines using Calypso software
  • Perform First Article Inspections (FAI) on complex precision machined components
  • Interpret detailed engineering drawings, GD&T, and customer specifications
  • Utilize a wide range of precision measurement tools including micrometers, calipers, height gauges, and indicators
  • Accurately document inspection results and generate inspection reports
  • Work closely with machinists, engineers, and production teams to identify and resolve quality issues
  • Ensure adherence to customer specifications and internal quality standards
  • Maintain calibration standards and ensure proper use of measurement equipment
  • Support continuous improvement of quality processes within the shop environment


Qualifications

  • 10+ years of hands-on quality control experience in a machining or precision manufacturing environment
  • Proficiency programming Zeiss CMM machines using Calypso software is required
  • Strong understanding of GD&T and blueprint interpretation
  • Extensive experience performing First Article Inspections (FAI)
  • Hands-on experience using manual inspection tools used in precision machining
  • Experience in aerospace or defense manufacturing environments highly preferred
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and commitment to quality
  • Ability to work independently and thrive in a fast-paced precision job shop environment
