Title: Compensation Manager

Location: Houston, TX

Duration: Direct Hire

Summary:

We’re looking for a strategic and hands-on compensation leader to oversee the development and execution of salary, incentive, and equity-based reward programs. This individual will ensure our pay practices support business priorities while remaining fair, competitive, and compliant. The role also involves team leadership, project ownership, and collaboration with senior HR, finance, and legal partners to guide compensation decisions across the organization.


Responsibilities:

  • Shape and manage pay structures and variable incentive programs aligned with talent and business needs
  • Lead cyclical reward processes such as pay planning, merit cycles, incentive allocations, and equity reviews
  • Partner with HR teams and leadership on job offers, internal moves, and org design from a pay strategy lens
  • Evaluate compensation competitiveness and internal alignment across roles and departments
  • Monitor external market benchmarks and recommend adjustments to stay aligned with trends
  • Oversee and support the administration of long-term incentives and equity-related processes
  • Prepare compensation summaries, dashboards, and reports for senior leaders and governance use
  • Act as a systems resource for internal tools and processes related to total rewards
  • Manage and mentor a team of compensation analysts or specialists, helping them grow in their roles
  • Set clear expectations and align work priorities with team and company objectives
  • Ensure ongoing communication and clarity around project timelines and deliverables
  • Provide regular coaching and feedback while promoting a strong team culture
  • Partner with external consultants and vendors as needed on compensation-related initiatives


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, HR, Finance, or related discipline
  • 10+ years in compensation, including a mix of salary benchmarking, incentive programs, and analytics
  • 3 years of people management
  • Understanding of regulatory frameworks that impact compensation planning and reporting
  • Strong Excel capabilities and ability to interpret and communicate data to stakeholders
  • Familiarity with compensation planning tools and survey platforms


Preferred

  • Experience supporting senior-level rewards programs and long-term incentive planning
  • Background preparing executive summaries or board-level compensation insights
